I'm looking at getting some 15x8" wheels or maybe 16x8" but am unsure on the backspacing I should go for. Anyone run an 8" rim and have any pics of it flexing etc and where it might rub? Currently I'm looking at these for about $36USD each.

it depends what tyre you plan on running if you go 33x10.5 or 31x10.5 you can get 4.5" backspacing and clear everything in most cases
otherwise it' s 3.75 backspacing wich will make the rims stick out a little more but prob needed to clear 33x12.5
another option is 16x8 rim and run 285/75 which is 33x11.0

What happens about insurance if you change wheels sizes from original? Isn't this a no no?

I really like those rims. I wish mine were that style. Just a bit different to the Rockcrawler.

I'm thinking of running 32x11.5 or maybe 33x12.5, with of 4" backspacing for the wheels, sound OK?

Remember though that the less the back spacing, the more leverage on your bearings! Also your scrub radius angles change and you are legally not allowed to run less than a 1/2" less on each side if you want to keep within the 1" track change rule. Stock is 5.25" so 4.75" is the lest you can go but if changing to 8" wide rims, you have to run stock backspacing due to the extra rim width. This will still mean a 1" overall track change.

Nice rims - I've just fitted a set of those (courtesy Wooders) in 15x7 with 4.25 BS to get exactly a 2" track increase

Wooders has/had some of those in the 15x8... but if I had more $$$ at the moment he wouldn't!! :D:D

I'm sure Wooders will be happy to quote you more precisely than I can ;)

Thread revival!

Is there any nice cheap way to get some 16x7s or 16x8s that have a pretty simlar offset to stock? I am going to be running skinny tyres so dont really need to space it out for clearance issues but a little more track would be nice for stability.

The later model XJ Classic had a 5 spoke 16" alloy rim. Hard to find, but might be the option you are after.

Just grab some Zg Grand Cherokee rims, they are 16x7 with the standard offset....

Sweet, I might also try and get some simple steel rims as I dont care much about how they look just trying to get something thats cheap.

4 years ago you could get them from the US (Summit Racing) for that ;) but shipping was the killer. I bought them from Wooders in the end, also had the advantage of trying a couple of different offsets on the Jeep to confirm I had decided on the right ones.
