I'm coming to the conclusion that the 33x15.5x15 swamper tsl sx's on my cj6 weighing about 1700kgs are just too wide to get good traction on slick clay hills
what are other peoples opinions on wide tyres?

I'm thinking of Simex extreme trekkers 35x10.5x16's on 8 inch wide rims for my next set of tyres

here's an interesting article

Skinny tyres work better because they give a longer footprint. Dont forget the 255 x 85 x 16 although no many people make them. They are about 33.4" tall and 10" wide. The 35 x 10.5 may be a bit gooey on the road. I know people say the 33x10.5 is a bit gooey on the road. It is a pity that not more tyres are made for 17 and 18" wheels as this would give a tall skiny tyre that is still good on the bitumen.

Sound's like they'll be perfect for Mike. Not much bitumen to drive on up the Burrup ;)
35's on the beast eh? 'bout time haha 8-)
