IMHO if your looking for noise and top end go 2.5" but for torque consider 2.25" with 2.5" free flowing cat and mufflers

the 4.0l does rely on a bit of back pressure to develop its low down torque

They must have done one before, the time in fitting extractors is where the $$ add up. If its something you think you could tackle yourself try contacting 4wd 1 for a set of SS extractors then get the shop to do the plumbing from there back.

I paid $130 (6 years ago :-)) for a 2.25" Cat back mild steel exhaust, retaining the factory Cat. 3 years ago (when original exhaust manifold died) I paid $475 fitted for a set of Huricane extractors with 2.5" back to the Cat.

As Gildo stated, find someone that has done a few, or it will cost heaps, the exhaust industry recommended fitting time for Extractors to a Wrangler is 8-9 hours according to there little book. It took the bloke I went to just under 4 hours and mine was his forth Wrangler.

Keep shopping around!

Mine are fine so far, no dramas at all. They do have higher clearance in front of the sump than some other brands I have seen. But I do know that 'Sir_Camel' has blown his (recently) according to his post, so that got me a bit worried (probably unecessarilly). You might want to ask him what happened.

Mine is 2.25 and I think is too loud but mostly due to the muffler now sure of brand just a generic "sports" style the smaller pipe does help to quieten it down a little so would be worse with 2.5

my advice is talk to a good shop about building systems for torque or hp and the apporiate noise level it is not as simple as some think leave it too the experts and I do most things myself :hammer:

Yea my Hurricanes cracked after a measly three years. Pick up Jeep with new Genie ones fitted tomorrow. I think LEXX had same issue with Hurricanes...
