Well my old clanker 98 TJ has just hit the 90K km mark and i think its about time i took it to somewhere (footo's most likely) for a real major service. well its 90'ish or under as i never bothered to fix the speedo gear after the 4.56 R&P install, so it can be anywhere between 85k to 90k.

i know one of the O2 sencors is out or on the way out, so ill get that fixed. i generally do my own servieing of the TJ as i'd prefer to know how to fix the things i break. (no mechanics out bush you know) Since im out of touch with the pricing of serviceing these days can anyone tell me what a major servicing of a TJ can run into? thats assuming that im not having to replace anything major.

secondly from those with a TJ a wee bit more run in then mine, is there anything that i should really address that not really listed in the service manual for a 90K (ish) service.

oh why 90K, cause i want to do it before X-mas and i doubt that i put another 1000km before X-mas.

I think a major for the WJ was about $450 at footos Stu, but that included servicing the Auto trans as well.

blinker fluid always needs a top up around 90 though ;)

Mines got over 100k on the clock.. although mine is 03.. I think the major covered everything. Footos are pretty good on price and service.
but get everything checked.. ie brakes suspension electrics
it might cost a little more.. but at least you will know whats about to go.. what needs doing and whats holding up to your abuse.

I had my 45k major service done at Xtreme 4x4 before they shut up shop and it was pretty average and cost about $650. I had my 90k major don't earlier this year at Footos and it came to under $500 including new disc pads and there were a heap more things greased up and looked at. Footos has great prices :)

Where do people go in Sydney now?
The place people where talking about down in the Shire have done about 1-2 SYEs ever... hardly Heep specialists. Anyone know somewhere good?

I still go to ARB City at St Peters. I was unsure after Mick left but he seems to have handed a lot of knowledge over to the boys. The did a great job fitting my 4.5 RE kit and at least I still have a warranty.

My last sevice was at 72k and cost under $300 with front pads included.

I know people bitch about the price at ARB stores but I like having 1 place who have worked on my car from new.
