now ive read up on here a few times about the 4.56 n bla bla.... but wen u guys say 100kmph at 2200rpm it sounds a bit much? any1 here got 4.11 running on 33s? its so hard unless u test drive the cars grrrr

4.56s with 33s - 2500rpm at 110kph. Its actually not that bad.

I was on 4.56 & 33"s. I went to 4.88 & it was heaps better. I would go for 4.11 at all.

4.56's and 33's here and would be looking more at 4.88's or 4.56's rather than 4.11's ...... 4.11's thats old skool.... 4.56's put the the engine smack in the middle of the torque curve on the h'way so no down changing, also mean you can crawl slower- unless you're Laz with 4.88's and 32's.

dont waste it on 4.11's go 4.56 at a minimum. I have 4.56 and ran them on 33's, now 35's but I wish I went for 4.88s

another vote for
"Don't waste yer money on 4.11 like I did"
unless you are driving 500kms a day on the highway i'd go 4.88 over 4.56

All these posts would, of course, assume it is a manual......;-)

4.11's, 6 speed manual = 2250 rpm at 100km/h in top gear with 33's

Bring a 6pack of Extra Dry with ya and u can come out to my place and take mine for a spin if u like. Mines a ''02'' 5 speed running 4.56 and 33's.

I found that when i changed from the standard size to 31" it became fairly doey, and the auto changes down from od on almost any slight hill, which it also didnt do before. If i get pissed off at how slow off the mark it is now, how pissed must you guys that lifted and went to 33s or 35 without changing the diffs?
I gather from this thread that it i want it back and zippy like it was, i should be looking at 4.11'S? Is this correct, given that i have no intention of getting tyres any bigger than 31s. Ever. I have an auto 4 sp.

I'd look at a 4.56 with the 4sp auto even on 31's

will this reduce the doey-ness that im now experiencing?
also, whats involved effort and money wise in doing the change?

I enjoyed my 488 combo...I think you find 456 well efficient though.

love my 456's and 33's but if you are ever going to aim for 35's 488's would be the go. Don't wanna work on em twice. Also depends on auto or man and 5 or 6 speed (for man).

so, just recapping, for a 4sp auto, 4.56's would be the go? what differences would i expect from this ratio?

1) Much better performance off the line (better than stock)
2) Much less kickdown when climbing hills or overtaking on the freeway
3) Much Much Much better crawl ratio for offroad use

exactly what i wanted to hear. thanks.
better performance off the line? better than stock? and i thought stock was ok off the line.
the kickdown is driving me insane on EVERY hill

thanks again.

Me likes my 4.88's and 32's - would I have gone lower if they made em? maybe ....

In retrospect I may have opted for 4.56's with the 32's - but it sure tows like a mad donkey and puts a big bloody smile on my face when I drive past a yota going uphill towing my 16' caravan... BwhAhAHAahaa *cough* ok evil laugh got me
