it's come time to replace the rear diff oil in my TJ.

my problem lies with the oil, i went to the shop looking for some 80Wx90 gear oil but was informed that they don't carry this oil, and they don't carry any friction modifiers. then he informs me that 90 grade LSD oil is the same as 80W-90 + friction modifier.

is that true?

I played it safe when I did my diff oil & got the addative from the dealer. It wasn't all that expensive.

I used Penrite Limslip 90 in my TJ when I put the new Rockcrushers on. On the bottle it says 'Limslip 90' with mention to it already having the modifiers and 'SAE 80W-90'.

I use castrol SAF-XA 80w-140. fully synthetic limited slip diff oil.

dont add extra friction modifier to oil that is already for LSD. you reduce its lubricating properties if you do this.

dont forget to change your front diff
