View Full Version : TJ Fuel Tank Overflow?

Hi All,

When i fill my TJ up... if i fill it up too much, it just dumps the fuel out the top of the fuel tank underneath the bottom of the car.

Is this right?? I like to cram every last drop of fuel in... because that way it looks better as far as kilometres go :):)

But i didnt think it would dump the fuel underneath like that..

There's a problem there somewhere, check the hoses for cracks where they join to the fuel tank. It's a semi closed system with a breather at the filler neck so there shouldn't be any leaks underneath.

i have a 96 TJ and mine did the same on a couple of occasions. From what i can tell this is not uncommon when you fill your tank up excessively especially in the warmer months as hot air expands it needs to dump some of the excess fuel as it was filled that bit too much
