G'day guys - just about to do an oil change on the Wrangler - just wondering what oil you all use?

I've been putting Penrite HPR10 into my other 4wd and according to the penrite website the TJ takes HPR10 as well - too easy. Grabbed a new Mopar oil filter too.

Cheers,
Jon

I use Castrol 5W30. Part Synthetic in the winter, usually switching back to the dinosaur based during summer.

Or whatever's on sale.

Engine oil is so expensive nowadays and I was sick and tired of it getting dirty after I changed it so I got one of these...

This engine oil bypass kit works wonders and it really DOES keep the oil clean!

hmmm, I think there is more to it than keeping engine oil clean. Look up Viscosity (oil).
This is the oil rating before its starts breaking down. This is why I only use Redline as its maintains its integrity under extreme conditions (4wdriving).

My understanding is that this is the film of oil between moving metal parts. When an oil breaks down it no longer provides adequate protection on moving parts and you get wear.

I sure there will be some Oil guru here who could better explain.

If you can find it you might want to give ULX 110 [liquid horsepower] a go , it's about $70 for 5l . But in my opinion it's not so much what oil you use, but how often you change it.

Thanks guys - I'll stick with the HPR 10 for now (makes it easy change both 4wds oil with the same stuff) and see how it goes. Will be sticking to 5,000km changes religiously.

Cheers,
Jon
