Hi there,

Looking for a new set of tyres for 2003 WJ in 17 inch size.

The vehicle is lifted with stand along springs about 40-50 mm above stock so I am looking for one size up shoes.

My understanding is that I could comfortably fit 245/65R17 or 245/70R17 with my lifted hight. Not looking for much larger tires as I'd rather avoid rubbing and want this tyre to fit in the factory spare well.

I was hoping to get BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO for my size and apparently they do exist in this size. BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO 245/70-17 E Tire, but BFG.com.au site does not mention them at all. So are they available or not?

What other interested choices are there in this size? I am open for suggestions.

Will this size be appropriate for a 2 inch lift?

Sockeye, speaking in general terms, it is more likely that a 245/70R17 will be LT construction than the other sizes mentioned. In most tread patterns this will mean a "stronger" treadface, and better wear. Tyres made in the USA will generally be the the best product available.

Remember just because something is the biggest seller, doesn't make it the best. Some tread patterns are very old and should be relegated to museums.;)

Have a look in the 'Grand Cherokee' section as this has been covered many of times before. From memory a 245/70R17 is the biggest tyre size that will fit in the factory spare wheel location (not sure about 255/65R17). You'll be able to find any of the 'decent' tyres available in this size, and you shouldn't have any rubbing issues.
