Try Wooders in Sydney, or Jeeepart in Hervey Bay, QLD or Poly4x4 in Oakleigh, Victoria.

I think that a new aftermarket starter is around $300

you could just get yours rebuilt. we usually get them done for under $150.

any auto electrician will be able to fix it. What is it actually doing?

There's always the old 'give it a few good whacks with a hammer' quick fix.
Don't know why it works, but it's got me going a few times over the years.
I've never done it with a TJ starter motor but it has worked with some older vehicles I've had.

the reason it works after you whack it with a hammer is because you have just freed up the solenoid that must have been sticking. if that is your problem it will work but only for so long.

Take it apart and clean it out .
bit of CRC and a clean works wonders and costs nothing !!;)
