    Suspension bushes replaced

So I just had all of the suspension bushes front and rear replaced ( from rubber to nolothane) on the 07 JKU. $850 for the bushes and $1760 for the labour....wow.... talked em down to $1500 for the labour. Now need to change front pinion seal...it's leaking. $550 for that!! And more if bearings need changing. No turkey for Christmas dinner for me this year.

WOW didn't realise they were that pricy.
Did that include the sway bar bushes as well ?
Did you notice a big difference in the ride ?
Got the pinion bearings changed a few years back, as the Front shaft UJ had been dried out and seizing which I didn't realise as it drove OK, until a long period of hot weather (yes get them occasionally) finished it off while driving down to a Jeep event, getting vibration when hitting 60mph.
Unfortunately the damage was done by then
Got the UJ changed, (tack welded in & rebalanced the shaft)
Since then I loosen the bolts on the shaft to diff every couple of years to check the UJ is behaving as it should.

I was shocked at the $ as well. The bushes were as cheap as I could get. Bought them via eBay from Superspares (Sydney mob) as total set for front and rear. Cheaper to buy as a set rather than individually. Also, cheaper to buy the bushes rather than replace the steel with them in cos all this steel stuff has become really expensive. Works out a few hundred $ dearer to go the way I did and just replace the bushes.

The front sway bar bushes were still ok-ish and not changed cos need to take off the whole bar and disconnects etc so mechanic said "leave it alone". Who am I to argue? The rear sway bar bushes were still OK according to mechanic but by the time he got to them I think he was sick of the job altogether. "A lot of swearing" he said. "Not as much as if I tried to tackle the job" I replied. Took him 11 hours he reckoned, although I think he was coached to tell me this by his boss. Trust his work absolutely. The ride is significantly improved for sure. Job needed doing so just have to bite the bullet and pay up. They did give me a couple hundred $ off....told them I am a pensioner.

Re the pinion seal, the Jeep dealership wanted me to pay them $345 to check if what I was saying about it leaking was true. I laughed. Then I asked could they do the job and when. He says "Do you bring your Jeep here for service?" I said no. He says "Well why should we do the work for you". "WTF!!!!" I said. "You kidding me? You're a Jeep dealership!" Anyway, after much pressuring by me he went and spoke with the lead mechanic who was behind the wall sectioning their service desk. He comes back and says they can't do the job because....wait for it....they don't have the tools. A laugh a minute.

Anyway, I found a Trans, Gear and Diffs specialty workshop and they will check everything out and do the work for me. Hope that the bearings etc won't need doing; the front diff barely does any work...maybe 5000km total in 4WD in 275000km.
