Electronic Throttle Control light flashing, can't rev past 2000rpm

    Hi there,

I'm new to this forum. I have a 2006 Cherokee KJ Limited Edition, CRD 2.8L. It has been in the family for 7 years, and this Jeep got passed down to me last year.

Yesterday morning, I was driving to the Macarthur region (I'm in Sydney), when I was coming to a stop, suddenly the warning beep came on and saw that the lightning bolt was flashing. The acceleration became painfully slow and I can't rev up past 2000rpm. Thankfully I wasn't far from home and had to drive it back, however the bit of uphill made me anxious as it was running very slow. I plugged in an OBDII Reader and it came out with P1140 and P1250. Not sure if this has to do with why my car is behaving like this. Anyone have any idea on where this problem is coming from and how to fix this issue?

    Cheers.

Try googling the P1140 & P 1250 codes with KJ Cherokee listed after the number.

    Cheers

        Hi Jeepneykj,

Try this link for a KJ Service Manual and Parts List 2002~2006

or for all their online manuals -

The testing and troubleshooting sections should be helpful in finding the problem.
Good luck, and remember... when all else fails, use a bigger hammer
