Had heard that, not on Faceache so 2nd hand, no details....... Maybe some other things got a software flash as well, I know after 4K km mine seems all good ....

Near 10k since Recall....fuel useage on hiway runs has dropped to 8.4-8.8/100...100kph or 110kph....drop on normal runs to 9.4/100....but....an increase to 10.4/100 when 'getting into it' over extended distances....car behaved a li'l 'placid' for first few thousand Klm's.
Hard to make a definite comment as mine is the 5spd and the 2nd FP Relay Recall was performed at the same time.
I found a vacuum line left disconnected, by the Dealership when performing the HPFP Recall, from the rear of the HPFP going to a junction box behind the thermostat housing....7 Slot explained it was a vacuum for brake booster and other mechanisms involved with EGR n burns....no noticeable change after I reconnected the line (car was then flat bedded to 7 Slot to have the blown EGR Coolant line and the Oil Cooler Z Hose replaced).
I have fitted new tyres (larger circumference of new tyres will give better fuel figures...same size tyres but now full tread) and I treated it to a new Air Filter (10k on old filter).
Soooo.....many variables...hard to put one thing in front of the other.
Car does 'run' smoother....is quieter in the HPFP area (but...I have been using Fuel Doctor b4 Recall was performed)....if anything it is not as 'quick to respond' to pedal application...ie: seems to 'electronically adjust itself' to prolonged 'gentle' Cruz control settings and has to be stabbed 'hard' and has a li'l 'delay' b4 launching when overtaking....nothing that's annoying, just a tiny bit noticeable compared to how it performed before all these changes and recalls.
Fairly sure a reset/upgrade/reflash has been performed by the Dealership.
My suggestion to those experiencing a reduction in performance and increase in fuel usage is to STAND ON IT A LOT to let the 'electrickery' adjust to various driving methods.
ps: Have to add to those changes that both diffs and the transfer case were also serviced. Difference now is, no Morey's was added to these casings at that service....so the Oil viscosity would have lowered...less resistance...improved fuel economy.Last edited by FARWEST; 30-11-2024, 07:28 AM.WK2 MY13 CRD LIMITED

Question to those that have had the HPFP Recall done AND changed their Fuel Filters since the Recall.
I did my 10k service today ..fuel and oil filters...new oil....has done a hard 10k this cycle....hi ambient temps...hiway speeds for up to 12hrs/day....maybe one or two quick stops in that day....an average top speed more than usual.
When the Fuel Filters were removed I noticed a 'mesh type' cage inside the Filters Housing.....now....I used Ramps this time and had a very good view of the internals of the Housing, as against previous services where a 'going by touch and feel' method was used..... however....Im almost positive I have not seen this 'cage' internal of the Housing....almost positive the Housing was 'open' when the filters were removed ?????
Now, my bus being an old '13 5spd Model, the 2nd Fuel Pump Relay Recall was also performed along with the HPFP Recall.
Unsure if the 'mesh cage' is part of the HPFP Recall OR the 2nd FP Relay Recall ???.
The 'mesh cage' was perfectly clean...only done just shy of 9k since the Recalls...also started using Fuel Doctor 4k b4 the recalls, so the fuel system was 'clean' prior the Recalls.....the filters came out cleaner than I have seen in my 60k of ownership using 10k Service Cycles.
Also...replaced the Catch Can (Provent 100....THANK YOU Jeeper6) filter after being 'warned' by the Owner at 7 Slot that they no longer fit Catch Cans to our Engines, as 'lack' of maintenance of these filters can cause pressure build up and 'blow' the rear seal out of the engine ...I don't really to have worry here as I always drain the Catch Can 'regularily'....if not at the 10k Service...after a hard run or a tow or out of curiousity. 7 Slot stated they use 'electrickery' to take the need for a Catch Can out of the equation ...for those smart enough, you will understand what they are doing to complete this process....not going to post it here.
Soooo.....back to the 'mystery' of the Mesh Cage inside the Fuel Filter Housing.....any input from the Brains Trust ???Last edited by FARWEST; 04-12-2024, 01:05 PM.WK2 MY13 CRD LIMITED

I'm now intrigued as I think I saw empty space from memory but I'm not really paying attention ... I'll have a lookie next time... I did a service just before I dropped mine off a Armstrongs but didn't do the fuel filters as I was led to believe they changed them when they did the pump and sure enough new filters but if they fitted something inside they didn't remove the housing by the look of mine......................... ..... My catch can has been fitted so if the filter clags up and has a pressure build up a hose will pop off and a Provent has blow by vents in case, maybe more like kink hose, I fitted elbows so no curves, gets dumped and flushed every service.2015 WK2 Laredo(ZG, WG)

Fuel Filters fitted by Stealership were UFI Filters and had the 'torque setting' cast on the filter itself....look VERY much like WIX/COOPER Filters to me, as far as the filter material goes.Last edited by FARWEST; 04-12-2024, 04:19 PM.WK2 MY13 CRD LIMITED

Trip to NOWRA and back, about 400 k’s. It is a bit hilly and bendy in places, so no increase in consumption for me
interestingly my P0192 codes started after dealer did 40,000 service at end of warranty so I have often wondered if there was some contamination causing intermittent blocking as always occurs when backed off on throttle and slowing down. There is only one solenoid left after fuel pump recall that I haven’t changed being the pressure control one at the front of bank 2. Comes from the fuel doctor making a difference
I am also looking into making a low side (before Hpfp) digtital reader to monitor fuel supply as pressure sensor that suit are under $20 @ jaycar and they run on 5 volts. And have a one/eight bsp thread, just need some second hand quick release fittings from AGC
i wonder what has made them put that mesh in1 Photo

Interesting...as I wrote before, Bundy Jeep canceled the recall date I had next week, and pushed it out to Feb next year. I wanted to get it done prior to my Bathurst trip end of January, so contacted Cricks in Noosa, they have booked me in in mid January. Noosa is ok anyway for me as other half's brother has a house at Sunrise so will pop in there and have a few nights stay.
Re the Catch Can and 7 Slot, the very reason why Manufacturers will not fit them, just one more thing for the average buyer, and workshop for that matter to overlook and potentially cause big issues with the engine and subsequent Warranty claims...
I replaced the filter element in my Provent catch can at the recommended 50k...will do the same when this one gets to the next 50k...no kinks or bends in pipes, all elbows and clamps...
I wasn't going to replace the fuel filters either before I take it in either, they were replaced only 5,000 kms ago anyway. I'll also be looking for this cage or what ever it is too?
I get constant fuel pressure reading on the Lufi I have fitted so will take some notes on that prior to recall being done...should not be any different in reality before and after. But that said, the fuel pressure reads like the old Vacuum gauge but in reverse. As you put the foot in to it the fuel pressure ramps up, but drops off significantly on over run...total reverse to a vacuum gauge we used to fit to our cars.
Gotta admit, I was concerned when I read that in Pete's case, the Stealership left a pipe disconnected after the pump was replaced! I'll be going over mine carefully before I leave the Stealership.
The girl that took my call at Cricks didn't inspire me either, I told her the recall name and what it was...she said couldn't find it. Then went on to ask me was the Jeep a 3.6 petrol or 5.7 V8! I explained that the Z46 only applied to diesel models and was for the High Pressure Fuel Pump replacement due to some failures overseas mainly. She eventually found it...good grief...I hope the TA that does the job is a little more cluey!CJ5, CJ7, XJ Sport, WJ HO V8 Overland, WH Hemi V8 Overland, 14 WK2 CRD Laredo-RIP, 15 WK2 CRD Laredo

I think it will be about 5K till my next service before I can have a look if mesh is fitted .................. AlfaOBD I can monitor fuel pressure on the low side as well as rail pressure but never bothered as it will tell me or just stop, from memory the LP is 50-60psi while the HP side is in the 25-33,000 psi ......................
The girl on the phone at my place I had to lead her gently to finally get some sense, I imagined a blank stare when I said Z46 recal so quickly gave her a history lesson and once she got the service bloke it was all sorted ............ A couple of injector fuel lines replaced as well as the rail lines and I think they stuffed the "O" ring on one of my fuel return fittings on the injector as they probably have to pull them off to replace fuel lines, I will check when I do my service but i think they also removed the EGR pipe as the fabric heat shield looks new........... its due for a soot clean.
If the top of your injector starts to weep a Diesel "O" ring 6mm x 3.6mm x1.2mm at least I think thats the size, tiny thing....2015 WK2 Laredo(ZG, WG)
