Dropping the (already Euro and US emissions compliant) diesel was purely a business decision - they sold so few diesels in their key markets, particularly the US, that it did not make financial sense to design and tool for the diesel in the WL.

Similarly the pivot in 'nature' of the WL (reduced off-road and towing abilities) can be attributed to the majority of buyers in the US (and even here, dare I say it) solely using it as a larger family car.

Sucks for us here, but globally speaking, it was the probably the most reasonable decision for the brand. In saying that, it would've been wise to drop the Hurricane I6 in instead of continuing with the Pentastar...

I had a pretty bad experience with the Zupps service team regarding a warranty issue back in 2013/4 - it was like pulling teeth. Sounds like nothing's changed.

The Service Manager at Zupps Aspley is a good bloke, drives a GC and we have had lots of great chats...but...that said I do not rust their workshop one bit.

When I had my WJ Overland I took it in to get a new fuel pump put in the tank, simple job, but they managed to flatten the battery and told me it would not take charge which was rubbish as it was less than 6 months old, and "sold" me a new battery for around $400! I asked for the battery back when I picked the car up, it charged up fine.
The Jeep was in mint condition, but when I picked it up they had managed to totally stuff a bonnet hinge, and the struts that hold the bonnet open were also buggered so the bonnet would not stay open, and it never closed properly afterward...they also left the tow bar wiring hanging out everywhere after taking out the fuel tank.
They recharged the struts for me after I made a noise, but I would never again take my Jeep to Zupps Aspley for anything ever again.
I also have had thousands of dollars wasted at the Jeep service at Mansfield with out having the actual fault repaired...that is a whole new story on it's own.

Not sure where I will take this one for the fuel pump recall...Noosa or Bundy. Probably Noosa I'd say as we have accommodation down there and could spend a couple of days.

I'm awaiting your report, still can't make up mind Cricks@Noosa, BundyJeep or Armstrongs Jeep @Toowoomba.............. Bundy and Toowoomba accomodation is a must and Cricks could need some if they stuff up ........... then again is it really needed and could it just open a can of worms ............ might just give it a few months to see if any howls of dismay start to be heard...........

Just parked her at Wanneroo Jeep and waiting for my taxi to go to work. They said it will be the high pressure pump, fuel lines and fuel filters done. Hopefully nothing else has been affected.

Mine got no tunes done so not sure what will be the implications for your ride on this but probably won’t affect anything?

Just got a text from the dealership saying the vehicle is ready for collection and amount due $0.00.

Well that was fast. Just 4 hours! Interested to find out if they did change all 3 components or just did the pump.

Ah that is where I was going to go. They will reflash the ECU after install for sure. This will turn all the emission controls back on just like the W58 recall.

Standard cars are boring. Mod them all.

Would they really need to re flash the ECU, wouldn't be any change in program or settings to require it ??????? Then again they may change pressure parameters or something ...............

I think a reflash would scare me more than the spanners put on my motor..........

Reflash the ECU for doing this job?? That is scaring me as well. Even without any tunes done I still dont like that idea. Just scares me if this might cause issues that I did not have before. There goes some of my customizations using JScan over the months
