    coolant tank hose leak

Have a very small weeping leak from the small hose at the top of the coolant tank.
The small leak appears to be around where the hose slides onto the small pipe on the coolant tank.
Tried cutting about 2cm off the end of the hose and put a decent wind up clamp on but even tightening it up hard, still a tiny bit of movement where the hose clamps on.
Thinking the rubber might be past its best ?
    Anyone had similar issue ?

I would say so, could have an internal crack so it weeps , just be careful you don;t break the tank fitting it could be brittle as well.. just a bit of heater hose same size from Supercheap.

Im about to do a 900km trip early this morning so ill keep an eye on it over the trip.
Got a used spare coolant tank and a length of rubber hose right diameter which ill take with me.
Hose is rated as transmission hose so i suppose it would do in a bind (has a thicker wall).
I was thinking maybe the tank may have a tiny crack on the small pipe but not sure. I see the small pipe area is reinforced with a small bit of metal tube inside it so maybe not.

Replaced mine with a long length of hose just after purchase ...header tank 'vented/breathed' directly onto the location of the first FP Relay Recall....now vents out under car....didn't want it to vent into the underbody tray and endanger the electric steering set up.
If you have replaced the hose and it's still weeping/seeping then there is a strong chance there is a 'crack' of some kind on that outlet. I would remove the hose....GOOP the entire area up with a suitable silicone type GOOP and put the hose back on.....easy cheap fix.
        Good luck.

I've also extended the overflow hose so if it overflows it flows to ground not all over electrical connections and stuff..

An especially good idea! When the oil cooler sprung the leak in my old Jeep, the oily water made an absolute mess of the area under the expansion tank, being the standard hose terminates just below the expansion tank...took me ages to clean the oil and crap off the electrics underneath...after I had the cooler replaced I put a longer piece of hose on so any overflow went under the Jeep on to the ground...same on this one.

Extending the overflow pipe is a good idea.
Did 600km today, 300km towing the caravan and 300 with no towing.
Still have the slight weeping running down under that small spout but coolant level still full.
If i take the clamp off and pull on the rubber hose it comes off very easily so im thinking maybe the hose has degraded internally ?
I would have thought the hose should be quite firm to remove.
Managed to get some fuel line hose today in the town im in but its as tight as to get onto the coolant tank spout, might five that a try.
              Got another 500km on Tuesday.
Does this leak affect the temp of the cooling system?

If its the small hose that goes from the header tank to the pipe near the thermostat .. then YES if it leaks too much it will drain your coolant as its a bleed for the system, if air builds up at thermostat it will bleed off into the header tank, if you can see into the tank you will see it flowing while engine running ....

If its the hose from under the cap then no, the hose leaking won't but if it leaks then the cap is on the way out or you haven't done it up fully, they have a double lock sort of thing, if you don;t get it right it will dump coolant......

Its the small hose with the outlet at the top of the coolant tank.. Changed the hose today so we will see.
Worst comes to worst ive brought my second hand expansion tank.
Come to think of it, back home i have a new set of hoses i bought ages ago with that hose included but that hose has some sort of one way valve in line in it as opposed to the one one the jeep has is just a open bit of hose. Not sure what engine the hose with the one way valve in it is off?
