Glasshouse Mountain Big Red and Little Red no more

The lease holders for the land that Big Red and Little Red tracks in the Glasshouse mountains have bulldozed and graded the land as at 8/05/24. This has happened thanks in part to multiple issues (accidents) in recent time.

The constant exposure to people wheeling these tracks on Youtube doesn't do much to contribute positively to the ability for the community to keep using these places either.

Rubbish, car parts and even complete vehicles being dumped make a mess of the area.

We lost access to Ormeau many years ago, Landcruiser Park got shut down and closed.

There are now barricades at the entry to what was Big Red.

    Track rehabilitation works, Beerburrum
Important rehabilitation works have commenced at Twins Logging Area, including tracks known locally as Big Red and Little Red and surrounding areas.
The rehabilitation works are to address two significant issues:

🌏 Minimising soil erosion and effects of off site runoff on water quality in the Ramsar-protected Pumicestone Passage catchment

🔥 Providing safe access for fire protection and operational use.
These tracks have been severely damaged by major rainfall events and intensive 4WD recreation and pose a significant safety risk for all users as indicated by recent incidents.

While we are supportive of responsible recreation within our forests, the primary purpose of the road and track network is to support forest management activities.

In particular, it is critical for both HQP and other fire response agencies to be able to safely access the track network for wildfire response to protect the broader community and our forests.

Well at least they seem to recognise "responsible" recreation...

In Victoria and down here in Tas all plantation forests are generally closed to public access.

It's nuts imo how they keep closing forest access tracks...to achieve what exactly? Many 4wd clubs do have runs where they drive the Forestry tracks and quite often have to remove fallen trees with chainsaws and drag them out of the way to keep the tracks open.
I've seen many access track locked off and behind them long grass and even small trees growing...so how are the Firey's supposed to access these places quickly in an emergency when they are overgrown and impassable? Ridiculous.

As has been said many times...a decent storm will do far more damage to the area than even a bunch of hoons in 4wd's. Good example, the CREB, gets a bit ordinary after a season or 2 of 4wder's, but now completely torn up and impassable after the cyclone went through...
