About to do this as well  as I have coolant in the valley.
Ordered a kit from http://www.idparts.com/oil-cooler-se...42-p-5146.html
Looking into new bolts if I need them.

So basically water can get into the crank case and ruin the engine.... is that the case with the whole "oil cooler seal saga"

Clarky 06-10-2016 03:26 PM

No, not usually the case. The seal (either oil side or coolant side) blow out & leak into the valley.
In my case its the coolant. This morning when I reversed up my drive way I had a very noticeable trail of coolant 4 metres long.
It's been leaking for some time but only a 20 cent size puddle overnight until now, It was like it when I did my last NT trip with caravan in tow (6000km).

I new this day was coming :(

HI Guys

i just done an oil and filter change today on my 3.0 diesel and after filling and starting i noticed a knocking sound i hadnt noticed before as this the first change ive done since owning it(seems to go away once warmed up), i used Nulon fully synthetic oil 5w 30 oil and ryco filter. and apon a little research i found a TSB on this stating a replacement on No.1 crank bearing. :( (assuming previous owner used heavier oil to cover up noise)
Has anyone else had this issue ?
Im not sure what to do, to use heavier oil , to fix or get rid of car
feeling pretty peeved and let down .

cheers for any help

[QUOTE=Clarky;1593019]Change your filter to a Mann brand. HU821x

is that it clarky that easy ? are they picky with the type of filter or something

Bloke 08-10-2016 08:46 PM

A click or a knock? It is very typical to have injector rattle and that comes and goes. If you do a bearing it won't ever go away.
