Dustbowl, I didn't get any pics of this stage. Basically, what I did was to level the housing on milk crates. (I know, very professional eh
). Then set the pinion to 11*.
(if you run a standard drive shaft) , I do, and feel it's a bit short. I won't be wheeling till I get a SYE.
With the pinion @ 11*, set the spring perches dead level.
Give me 1/2 and I'll shoot out to the shed and see if I can find the piece of paper I had all me calcs/measurements on.
Be damned if I can find the paper.
Do yourself a favour and if you don't already have one, get yourself a angle finder...
Pretty sure off the top of my head my shock mount angles were;
DS- 7* down
PS- 7* up
BUT check yours once you have it out. Level the spring perches and go ,from there. I'll, add a pic I found which has different measurements to what I used as I used the measurements I got from my D35. But it explains the way to measure...
As long as you measure twibillionty times and cut/weld once.
I welded a bolt on top of the PS axle tube about half way between the axle flange and centre to mount the flexi brake line. I also used a mix-match of hard lines from both the D35 and 8.8.
Are you purchasing a conversion kit? It comes with the little things you don't think of till too late. eg. a PS soft line for the caliper. On the ford the distribution block is part of the PS soft line. You can use a DS soft line if you prefer not to use a kit. Hand brake cables etc, little mounts etc for the brake lines.
This was my kit. I think I've already posted a pic but here's another..
Plus the universal joint adapter flange. Even though, it is a hardy-spicer standard part. I have the part number, but not handy.
ps. the ear-bud headphones aren't included..
