Default JKU Drivers door wont stay shut.

So the other night i stopped to take a leak, was out in the middle of no where.
My drivers door decides it wont latch.... i mean just bounced back at me !!!!
Thinking WTF am i going to do. So i get the tools out out to try to get in an have a look to find i couldnt get the inner door card off (didnt want to break it)
So i put the door card back on, had the shits and just pressed the door and sure enough in latched. Then it was fine until the next day, then it decided to open whilst i was cruising along the HWY and again in the M5 tunnel, both times scaring the crap out of me.

Anyway im just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and do you think Jeep would warrant this on a 2011 JKU?

Just take your neck tie off and use it to tie the door shut.

i highly doubt you'll be covered by a warranty that expired 2 years ago but it sounds like the lock mechanism is sticking probably due to a build up of dust and grease. I'd try spraying it with WD40 will working the latch with a screwdriver and see if it frees up.

The only time I have had anything like that happen was when the seatbelt got hooked over the catch as I was getting out...

But I have had to strip the doors before so here is the link I found for how to disassemble the door so you can check it. JK front door panel disassembly guide

That would be my guess as well.

I've never heard of a better reason to run doorless than that. ☺️

Seriously if it's bouncing back off the striker there is probably a slight adjustment needed to make it latch properly.

Check if the door is loose on the hinges and tighten and adjust until that striker latches properly. Sometimes a slightly bent door will not line up properly as well. See which part of the door hits the frame first when closing

Spray the latch mechanism with WD40 to clean it, then use some LANOX to penetrate and lube it (WD40 is not a lube). Work the latch a number of times.
I'd guess its full of dust and just sticking.
