Default Braided stainless brake lines

Just fitted some and it really made a difference.

Not as much as replacing contaminated rear brake shoes though...

Yet the brakes do feel far less spongy. Got the ABS to activate after a 50km/h emergency stop.

Worth doing. Won't make a poorly maintained XJ brake system good, but adds a level of braking power the standard brakes just don't have.

Good to hear about the improvement.

I'm still a bit reluctant about the braided stainless brake lines.
Why?

The disadvantage is that you can't see any wear and tear. There might be no deteroriation, but these brake lines can't handle stress very well. If you bend them sharply (e.g. contact with ground obstacles) you can't see the damage below the braid. Teflon lines do not like sharp bends.
An advantage of rubber.

In my opinion stainless lines do not belong into offroad vehicles.
Road use only might be ok.
I invested in better pads and rotors instead.

In the end everybody acts on one's own behalf.

I can recall my similar thread on this Deezel, I decided to try new OEM brake lines first to see if my squishy brakes improve, the new master cylinder didnt fix it.
I don't believe adjusting the rod that connects the pedal to the master cylinder, as was suggested on another forum, has such a great influence on imprving the squishy-ness, probably will if there is a lot of ' play' in the pedal before it engages.

Anyway, will let the forum now if my new (rubber) lines will have improved things....next would be the steel braided lines.

Default Stainless brake lines

Stainless lines do not belong into offroad vehicles? really, I fitted them, a bit long with only 3in of lift but I agree with the original poster, made a big difference, If your lines are getting hooked up somethings wrong...,I have had them at full flex regularly bought them off ebay for under two hundred if my memory is correct!!! great mod and much better braking.

A couple of bad bounces, tree roots, submerged fence, rocks, whatever can end your day pretty quickly with a ripped line.

Been there, done it. Rubber brake lines are part of my spare box.
