Default Commander & Grand Cherokee Ignition Switch recall

Here's a new Safety Recall Notice from Fiat/Chrysler/Jeep Australia that arrived in the mail yesterday dated "March 2015".
It affects 2006 - 2007 Commanders and 2005 - 2007 Grand Cherokees.
Who dares take their car in for a fix? The other point is they have stated they have a problem but they don't have the parts to fix it. What a Joke!

I got the recall as well...

Apart from the fact that it doesn't affect me, i literally sit in the back seat when i drive, so I don't have an issue knocking the key, and whilst I have bent my key before, I generally don't get into the car after I've put the key into the ignition - its usually the other way around.

And given Fiat Chrysler's recent run of recalls, this one will be another one the Commander doesn't go in for....

Any idea what "parts" they want to replace? I for one will determine if the "fix is warranted or not when I see in detail what they intend to do.

I have never had the ignition accidently turn off while driving, maybe left-hand drive vehicles are more susceptible to this?

You'll note the Yank has his knees up but in an Aussie R/H steer car you have your leg extended and your foot on the accelerator or brake pedal except when you have the Cruise Control on so it far less likely to happen on a R/H steer model.
I've never had an issue.

I did that only a couple weeks ago, my knee turned the ignition off.

Stopped in the middle of the road turning right!

Received the letter last night as well - Jeep forums in the US got the letters last September and apparently parts not available until September this year!

I have had this issue happen to me 3 times now - luckily it has always been in the driveway at low speeds - once when using garage door remote attached to my keys and twice a knee knock whilst changing positions whilst driving - so I will definitely be going in to get this fix - whenever and whatever it is!

I am actually a bit upset with Jeep on this one - this has been a known issue for a long time, this is the first time they have advised us officially, there is no fix yet developed, no firm timeline - also the letter could have at least instructed as to remove all items from the key to minimise the risk of he problem - our US cousins got this bit of advice, why didn't we?"

Did not get one so rang HQ. They did not have my new address ( which is reasonable though) so updated it.
