Default well,

i think i might do a bit of preventative maintenance on the xj. misses thought she boiled it again, but, thankfully, it was a split heater hose. so i decided to pull her off the road (the xj not the misses), and replace a few things.
i priced everything from a few places localy and i really would like to support the local bloke, but mate, when its an easy 50% saving for the sake of waiting for the parts, its a no brainer for a pensioner.
im replacing everything from filters to plugs and leads, all hoses etc. so hopefully when all done, we'll have a reliable vehicle.

man, its hard to get heater hoses. most of you probably know, genuine only, but even jeep dont know......
what i mean is, jeep use your vin no. right.??? well, my vin told the parts dude "this bloke wants these 4 hoses"... i beg to differ.....greatly. especialy the 2 hoses that go to the heater core at the firewall. the parts fella gave two hoses, one- bout 6 in long bent 90* in the middle. two- bout a foot long and roughly the shape needed, but just nowhere near long enough. the two hoses i need are aprox the same length, probably 1 1/2 foot long, they go from half way down the driveres side of the motor all the way around the back of the motor and then halfway to the passenger side bonnet hinge. plus, as an added bonus, the hoses i need are 5/8 on one end and 11/16 on the other.
will have to remove these hoses and take them to the parts bloke so he can order the correct ones.

also ordered a ripper of a trans oil cooler. heat sink type. 22" long, finned alloy tube type of thing. was told by a couple of different blokes they perform fairly well. will see.

on the lookout for some decent tyres as well. was looking at these;

what are peoples thoughts???

cheers

Might be too late to tell you this but I got heater hoses from Leo Muller Jeep p/n K55035910 & K55036952. Came as 2 hoses to do the complete job from thermostat to firewall and sound exactly as you describe. Only thing is you have to cut them to suit the heater tap that's half way along on the drivers side. $130 including freight from Qld to NSW. Mine is the last of the 97 XJs before the upgrade.
