Some alpine cd changers are compatible, but you have to check if you have the DIN connector on your head unit to connect it. I got a standard cd/tape player from the US for $70. Its just like the stock one but with a cd player as well.

I use an Alpine unit that directly controls an iPod personally, it can run a stacker but I don't want to use up any more space than necessary...

my 95xj had a stacker scewed to the floor in the cargo area tucked under the spare tyre mount, i couldnt get it to work so pulled it out and its still in my shed, along with many other old head units and stuff. but wether it was the stacker or the head unit i wasnt sure, there both gone now and have a 7" screen amps and subs ipod controlable, no need for cds, cant get scratched on dirt roads or sand dunes, constant music

Ditto - the CD player is a Phillips Unit with a Phillips control centre on the dash in the Classic Series. i.e. the 95XJ Classics.

My unit broke down twice in the 12 year history and took it both times [I think I posted it on one occasion] to a repair place in Melbourne that specialises in them. Is going great. I usually switch it off when going over bumpy roads to avoid damaging it, but otherwise it is pretty robust.

IPODs - yep, they beat the 6 Stacker CD player in terms of occupancy room, and storage!
