Default Beginner questions

Hi Guys

Excuse my beginner questions but I'm new to the game coming from a life of luxury sedans.

I have a Cherokee Limited that I'm ordering this week which I'll be using for light offroad, nothing scary, not looking to do much in the line of modifications so it'll be anything I can do with a pretty stock standard Cherokee.

Who are the best people to chat to for complete beginner tuition? I.e. I've done the odd bit of beach driving in other people's 4x4's on hard sand but other than being in a car with someone else on the odd heavy beach sand, I know absolutely zero and I'd like to make sure I can use it without completely trashing it. I see the Jeep Club in Vic offer training. Is it worth just joining them and doing their training?

Edit - Found the answer to the second question so I've deleted it.

Regards,

Athol

Mission man. Welcome to the forum and the world of jeeps.
Training can be done at alot of driver training centres. If you would like to mingle with your own brand then the MJOC Melbourne Jeep Owners Club is a great start. With your membership you get a Friday night theory class that introduces you to the 4wd system specific to your Jeep. It also goes through convoy procedures and alot more. Then a Sunday out the the clubs property on specifically set up tracks / trails , obstacles to allow you to put your Jeep through its paces but in the safety of controlled conditions. I highly recommend it. Its a great introduction into the world of 4wd'ing. Once you have done this free of charge you can then join in on any one of the may trips the club runs to some of the most breathtaking parts of Victoria and beyond. SA beaches and Tassie to name a few.
Hope to see you at a club meeting on the last Tuesday of every month in Greythorne (Bulleen)
Cheers
