Default WK tyre pressure sensors

Hey guys,
Just wondering if you lose the option of your tyre pressure sensors on the WK Limited if you change rims/wheels and whatnot..

Thanks in advance.

You have to buy another set of sensors for the 2nd set of wheels/tyres as I have with the 20" road wheels/tyres (both rated legally for load) that were fitted from new. I keep the original wheels (with their senses) with the Coopers for off road. In 2006 when I did this I think thew cost was just over $400 a set of 4. If you don't do it the computer read out keeps telling you there is a fault and won't stay as a blank screen (if selected).

I got a set of sensors for my second set of rims through Allen Samuels Jeep in USA in March 2008 when the aussie $ was close to the $US cost me AU$237.10 for a set of 5 shipped to me in Qld. They were here in 7 days.

They will need to be coded into the vehicles computer.

As a matter of interest the local Jeep service Dept informed me that when ever I changed rims a recoding would need to occur. When I did change rims it was found that the recoding didn't need to happen as the computer remembered the original coding.

So theres no possible way i can just change the sensors on the original wheels to the new rims??

And does this mean i can get any set of rims and they will all support TPMS?

Thanks.

Yes Bonz, it's only a pressure sensor, sorry to sound sarcastic -the sensor cannot see what sort of wheels you have attached to it!
All it needs is to have the right frequency sensor matched up to your vehicle if you're contemplating some more. Send your Vin No to these guys in Brisbane they're around $100 each inc GST & express postage:
