how yours is fastened?
Dont have any photo's of the attachment yet but basically I temporary removed the plastic trim above the window then drilled the 2 pop rivets out holding the metal loop for tieing the window down to the bonnet. I then fabricated a bracket, pop riveted it back onto the window frame then attached the plastic mounting bracket that came with the GPS. It holds it very securely but I've decided to modify it tommorrow to include a ball pivot which will then allow the screen to be faced towards either the driver or navigator & minimise glare. I'll post a photo when it's done.

The factory MyGig nav unit has a few quirks, it does seem to like Bega, even if it isn't anywhere near the route you ought to be taking...probably best to go aftermarket!

G'day mate

I've been using OziExplorer for a couple of years on a Hp iPaq, but just recently upgraded to a HTC Touch HD. Its a mobile phone running Windows 6.1, has all the normal phone features as well as the features from a PDA. comes standard with bluetooth, WiFi, and stand alone GPS (no need to use thru network provider). The screen is 3.8 inches, and touch screen to boot. It also has the highest resolution of any phone on the market to date- I can easily watch a movie on it and its as clear as day.

I bought this because I wanted 1 item that would do everything- and as far as I'm concerned this delivers the goods and then some.

So with your screen, is it connected to a PC? or does the screen have a built in GPS?

Reverse camera, MP3, MP4, bluetooth phone etc. Has a few issues still to be ironed out but nice screen fairly easy to use. Another option is something like the http://www.htc.com/www/product/hd2/specification.html which is a phone, oziexplorer gps, road navigator, camera, compass & internet. While it looks a little small it's all High Resolution screen & easy to view. We actually used it as our main navigation device on this years outback run including some remote cross country driving. When my phones up for replacement this will be the all in one navigation/communication tool I'll get.

That unit has an inbuilt GPS with touch screen. Important features to look out for are an inbuilt battery that lasts over an hour, large memory card (at least 4 gig), HD screen (800x480) & Win CE 5 or later. This is a similar unit to mine on ebay & has all the specifications there. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Q2-2009-7-GPS...item3a54d87ef5
It's basically a road navigator that is unlocked allowing Oziexplorer CE to be loaded on the memory card & then any compatible map installed.

Cool. thanks for that.
I have a MIO C520, I do pretty much the same thing, but I do like the 7" high res screen. Might be time for an upgrade.
