I have had $1000 sitting on my front seat of my TJ in my wallet all day with the windows down in the middle of Darwin and nobody took it... Yet leave your car unlocked for 5 minutes in Sydney and it will probably be stripped down to the chassis (just like that scene in Lord of War with the plane). If in doubt then fit the alarm.

Depends where you parked in Darwin. And where you live. I would say you are very lucky. I had my passenger door lock completely stuffed from someone trying to break into it ( along with about 5 other 4wds from a new patrol to a cruiser) in a supposedly secure complex
when I was living there earlier this year.

1. Insurance. If the bastards really want it, they'll take it.....And an immobilised won't do squat if they come will a flatbed
2. Alarms & immobiliser will stop the honst/incompetent theif.
3. Club lucks are easily by[assed - they just cut the wheel. But will help deter the honst/incompetent theif.
4. Rotor removal - what a PITA to do that all the time. but would probably work well.
5. Kill switch (hidden) will often work really well as the theif would need to trace it to bypass it. By this time the honst/incompetent theif will probably have gotten discouraged and just trashed the car.
6. T/case in neutral - might confuse any theif for a few valuable minutes....but then you are relying on the Jeep handbrake
7. Insurance. If they want it, they'll take it. If not, they might trash it.
