Default "part time 4x4" light stuck on

Went 4x4ing last weekend on a club rally trip (which we won!) and before getting back on the black put the little stick back into 2wd, and noticed the part time 4x4 light on (which of course is the last "stop" on the stick. tried to and fro through the other stops, but evry indicator on the dash is the wrong one for what it actually is, like one stop behind, so full time 4x4 shows as low range etc. The little stick is as far forward as it can go, but the switch is not disengaging or something, any ideas??????
Cheers Guys

Have you put it in neutral and tried to select 2wd? Try selecting reverse and neutral - it may be a clutch has stuck and needs to be released!

Good Luck

Sounds like the selector had slipped. Have you checked the selector cable and the lever? You could have mud or crud up there which is stopping the lever from movng into 2WD. Crawl under and have a look. We had a problem in a KJ at Camp Coffs this year that was very similiar to yours and it was a loose selector cable.
