I think about this from time to time. I'm ******** about not leaving anything of value in the car at any time- I kinda think like there's no roof on at all when the soft top is on.

My hope is that when some miscreant eventually decides that the $10 phone holder on my dashboard is worth breaking in, that he/she kindly unzips the side windows and doesn't slash them or breaks one of the front ones.

Another thing- just how secure is the console box? The lid is pretty wobbly and I reckon a screwdriver under the lid would have it open pretty quickly. I wonder if it would be better to leave it unlocked with nothing in it.

We had a the rear window in the JK Unlimited slashed when it was quite new, they also managed to cut the rear seatbelt at the same time. As the JKs had only been out a few months, the only replacement we could get was from France and would cost $3000! We opted to just put the hard top on until prices came down.

In a total of three Wranglers over a combined 7 years, that is the only damage we've had, and admittedly it was in a pretty dodgy town we were staying overnight.

I tend to leave my top off for weeks at a time and keep no valuables in there. When I had the half doors in my TJ I didn't bother locking it. Once or twice someone rifled through my car, they were welcome to the 5c in the cup holder.

I came back to my TJ once to find both rear windows removed. I had thought someone had been through my car but didn't steal anything. Was quite upset that I would have to find some replacement windows- that was until I had them returned to me by a mate who had seen my car parked in town and had taken them as a joke. I didn't see the funny side at the time...

The JK's been fine so far, (touching chipboard desk) but my 68 ExArmy landrover had the roof slashed once by someone stealing my scratched mowing sunglasses and a couple of half melted pirated cassette tapes from the dash.
It probably confused them trying to find the door locks as it didn't have any they could have just open the door with the door handle.

I leave the rear of he Jeep softop rolled up 90% of the time, I'd rather they climb thrugh the boot to find nothing of value in the Jeep. I leave the glovebox & console unlocked too, might get one of those tuffy steel gloveboxes one day.

Yes it does happen and is PITA cost $550 to get a new RHS window...

NO roof now and nothing worth taking in the jeep that could be taken with a snatch and grab all other areas locked and alarmed... Touch wood...
