Default 4x4 / Beach driving Melbourne

Hi,
We have been asked to give a very sick kid a ride in my old mans Jeep as a bit of a last wish. He lives near Brighton and we will have very limited time once he's in the Jeep. Anyone know of the closest possible place to take him on a bit of a drive - either easy 4x4ing or beach driving would suffice.
Thanks in advance, Cambo

beach driving is not allowed in Vic, you'd need to go to Robe in SA which is roughly 5 hrs away for that.

Gembrooke is probably the closest 4wd spot for you guys.

if it's a bit of a last wish... and he doesn't mind staying up a bit late...
after dark down the end of jetty rd there is a track that leads to the triathlon centre, follow that and there is easy access to the beach with a few little dunes to roll over. or alternatively, if the gate is locked you can access the beach (and triathlon ctr) through the grassy area opposite the kayak shop near the locked gate to the triathlon ctr.
the sand along there is always pretty easy to drive on.... or so i'm told....
but as dave said, it's illegal to drive on beaches in vic. i haven't done it... really.

Hi Emma,
Thanks for the suggestion - not that we would contemplate that but - are you talking about Jetty Rd, Sandringham?

We should have a whip around and fly him to Qld or WA for a proper beach wheel.... assuming he is well enough to fly.
we actually have beaches you can swim in without having stinger nets for most of your overrated coast
