Got an '09 Auto CRD Unlimited with 5500km on the clock and the only mod on it so far is a snorkel. It's a struggle to keep it under 13l/100km in the wonderful Sydney traffic which doesn't surprise me but even on a good run it's never returned better than 11.5l/100km which is not so good. I've checked it driven normally and on cruise control and it didn't make any significant difference.

The computer readout usually shows a little higher than if I calculate manually after filling up.

Checked with the garage about the higher than expect highway consumption and they said it may take up to 10000km for the engine to loosen up. I'm not convinced. Somehow I doubt that I'm going to see it drop 2-3l/100km in the next 4500km.

5000klm trip up the East Coast showed me a couple of things.

Deisel from the bowser is not all the same.

It depends on how you drive.

City traffic (for Adeleaide anyway) doesnt affect it that much more than highway.

Air Con adds an extra litre roughly.

And how hot it is adds that again on top of the Air Con.

Stock Manual CRD Unlimited -10.2 - 9.8L/100klm Average. 40,000Klm travelled with 75% City the rest highway or offroad.

you can hold the button down on the dash to recalibrate the setting. I do this when highway driving to see what she is sucking down sitting on 110klm Vs the suburbs at 60klm and there is not much difference.

Cheers

My Unlimited CRD manual runs betwen 9 and 10 L/100 km that's with 110kg of winch and front bar (warn rock crawler). That matches pretty well with my actual fuel economy as calculated from fuel usage vs km.

yep, lift will have some small affect on increased wind resistance, but still a bit high. if it's in for a service get it checked then. if they find no fault then maybe do a bit of fault finding yourself, if you're really worried about it.

just checked LPH on my scangauge. interesting. varied between 0 and 24 l per hundred on a constantly changing instantaneous readout. never used it before. not on that setting. unless there is another setting for average fuel usage, it's pretty useless as a gauge of fuel economy. dash readout is more accurate as a guide, if it's reading properly.

Rubicon unlimited manual with 4" lift 14L/100km normal metro driving and short distance runs (this is on standard size tyres), marginally more when running the 35's.
