Smile Diesel/Petrol Auto/Manual ???

Guys

Just got the news from a dealer that I hadn't picked up on before that the JK diesel manual is no longer available as a new car. I was wanting the diesel for a bit more fuel economy.

JK diesel auto is available - but at $2000 extra

Then there's the petrol manual - $6000 cheaper than the diesel auto.

Can anyone share their diesel/petrol or auto/manual opinions with me?

Thanks

JB

$6000.oo is a lot of money left in your wallet to spend on petrol.

For me I wanted the auto as I spend far too much of my time in Sydney traffic and I preferred the torquey nature of the diesel so I didn't really consider the petrol or the manual. The diesel/auto combination is superb and I think really suits the car. However, if you don't mind the manual (or actually want one) and aren't dead set on the diesel then at $6000 difference the petrol/manual looks like a good option. It'll take a fair while for additional fuel costs of the petrol to eat through the $6000 saving.

The auto is worth the money, especially when it comes to wheeling and resale. I wheel with many manual jks, and the ease that I climb obstacles to the manual is significant. Downhill though, is another story, but you ride the brakes!!!!

JB,

You are shelling out a big stash and YOU will be driving it.

Find a dealer with the jeeps in stock, and drive each of them and to see which one feels right. Who cares about 6K if you are buying a new jeep & get stuck with one that doesn't suit?

i have the manual petrol and its fine and offroad work is a breeze in it (i do have the rubi so lower gearing). I have had no issues with that combo and prefer the manual over the auto personally.
The diesel auto makes a good combo though
