Default Check Engine Light On
Yesterday went to start ny jeep ( 99 xj sports ) and did not start after 3 or 4 turns of the key, after about 15-20 second it started. It seemed to run a littel rough and the check engine light came on. I checked under the bonnet today eveything seems to be ok but the light is still on.Had a look at gojeep site to check codes, but I believe it dosn`t work on 99 model, when you press the ode button and turn the ignition key. all I got was 1111111to 999999 and no codes. any suggestions

there is a nather way to get the code and that is turn the key farst on then off three times.

With 96+ OBDII you need to flick the ignition on and off 4 times, on the forth you leave it on after a few seconds the Check Engine light should start flashing you the codes.

got in the jeep tonight, engine light was off, started it up runs fine. having it looked at by my mate whos got a code checker? to see what codes come up. Thanks for tips
