Default Jeep Found The Solution for 2 Door CRD Manual Clutch burnout

I was looking on The Jeep Australia website they seem to have found the solution for the clutch problems on the 2 Door CRD manual.

They have deleted the manual option from the CRD engine for a 2 door Wrangler

Maybe they think only 2 Door Jeeps only go offoroad.

It is only logical. Every other manufacturer is going this way too.

It will mean approximately 1 less clutch & flywheel and 1 less gearbox replacement/repair under warranty per diesel shorty sold.

This is a considerable saving for chrysler.

The 4dr will be next.

That's a bit pessemistic Yom. I have only 6 months to go in my warrantly period and have had no signs of clutch wear/failure yet. And I've only heard of a handfull of other people having problems

I highly doubt its got anything to do with the clutch being faulty, its probably just cheaper to produce one variation and they most likely sell way more autos than manuals. And this is clearly the way the industry is headed. Its unfortunate, I love manuals, and this was one of the things that attracted me to the JK - still offered a manual. The only other shorty on the market (at the time I was looking) was the pajero and that was auto only.

There is also a growing consensus that autos are better suited to off road driving than manuals.

Its purely lack of sales of that version. It did not make economic sense to build that version for a hand full of sales.
