Im a diesel mech and have access to auto parts stores at alot cheaper than that. I was hopeing someone would have one for 50 bucks as i only use the car 5 times a month if that

Cheers for your help. looks like i might give them a go. Mine only needs a solenoid as it seems. i rebuilt the unit and new brush's but the solenoid is up the ghost..

why pay $110 for a used and mud invested old starter from who knows where that probably wont last six months when you can buy a nice reman from somewhere like RockAuto.com for $180 aud including shipping (shipped to Oz within 7 days)????? at the end of the day you will still have a used part that will soon fail for only $70 cheaper..doesnt make sense...this is a common failure from abuse in the mud on XJs and its not the starters fault...dont buy used unless u are in a pinch (but maybe u are in a pinch so forgive me if thats the case). in the long run you are better off with a new unit... my 2 cents
