Default Aircon

Didn't really use the aircon last summer but have just noticed mine does not blow much cooler than when on the fan only setting. My old man reckons it needs to be regassed. A bit disappointing considering it is just over 12 months old. Has any body else had the same trouble?

I took mine into the dealership recently and asked for exactly that. They cleaned the condenser (?) and some other bits and checked the pressure of the gas, which they said was ok.

Maybe it is the hotter or more humid time of year here in the tropics, but mine A/C is really not worth having the button in the car.

Also there are no vents in the back of the four door version. Anybody know of any solutions for hot kids?

Soft top

Mine works very well (aircon that is) and still feels very cold when turned on. I have noticed even in the cooler months if let sit in the sun the air coming out of the vents with aircon off is quite hot. A short blast of the ac cools the vent tubes back to normal and then I can switch the AC back off again.

you are suppose to run them reasonably regularly even in winter to keep them operating at their best and if left too long without operation can lead them to be quite ineffective

My Aircon works fine from the day I bought the JK back in 07.
I have always run the air con full on, for at least one day every week.
If you run the air conditioning in the winter it will help to keep the system well lubricated and leak tight. This is because the refrigerant actually carries the oil that lubricates the system and most importantly the compressor. It also keeps the seals and hoses moist, thus preventing them from drying out and cracking which can lead to leaks

mate mine conked out about a month after i bought the vehicle. turned oy to be leaking gas from the tx valve. if you look at the coolant pipes going back to the firewall under the bonnet, you will see they both attach to a metal block thing with a large nut in the middle. this thing has a rubber O-ring that can leak and all the gas disappears. if dealer reckons he can't fix it take it to an aircon shop they wil repair ir easily and quickly and the bill won't cost too much.
