Chaser, i hope you get the issues you face sorted and that you get to enjoy your Jeep without the fear of whats going to go wrong next.
I do however like your attitude regarding the Jeep as there is something about them that you dont get with most vehicles on he market regardless of its quirks

usually 2 types of people buy jeeps, those that will put up with all the little niggling things regardless of how new or old the jeep is and love it to death.... or the people that buy it and can't wait to get rid of the bloody thing cause of all the constant little niggling things
luckily there are more of the former than the latter

I feel a lot better about my JK after the announcement of the latest in what have been a growing series of recalls from Toyota for it's 4WDs; this time for the "unbreakable" HI-Lux (apparantly if you accellerate over a cattle grid or bumpy road the tailshaft falls off). Lately the number of recalls from the so called "reliable" manufacturers globally seems to be growing, so what's the point of buying a boring, cookie-cutter vehicle purely on the premise of reliability if this is no longer the case?
And at the end of the day the Wrangler is still comparatively cheap, like half the cost, compared with most Japanese wagons with similar off-road capabilities and if you cruise the Prado and Patrol forums you'll see these have their fair share of problems too. I'm lucky enough to have good dealer who repairs any faults my Jeep develops under warranty without question so I couldn't be happier; my Wrangler still puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel!
I call it 'Personality'.... I discovered it driving my first fun car... the Fiat X1/9.
The Fiat had no power, no space, it always broke down, and all the mechanics shook their heads at it when I pulled in.... but it handled and had personality... like the Jeep.
We've had 5 jeeps in our family.... go figure... I also call it tragic.
