Theres a little plastic bowl around the fuel pump pickup in the tank, this is supposed to stop fuel surge when conering when the fuel level is low.The o-ring wont really cause that problem, its near the top of the tank.

ok maybe just a really badly gunked up tank is my issue? pulled pump fuse out n started the car and it actually ran for a bit then died same again few more starts till nothing, before changing the filter/reg there was nothing at all, so pressure is definitaly there, only leaves gunked up filters on the pump module so tank will come out today and i will clean everything and might replace o-ring anyway

ok tank out that wasnt to much hassle, it looks liek the tank has been out before, and was missing a couple bolts, this may have made the tank slight lower at the rear not sure if that would effect much, will pull pump out now and clean tank, will also run down and get some more bolts so its all in properly :P

ok tank clean but the pump module is very dirty, and the o-ring looks good and has a plastic washer/spacer on it, does that mean it has been changed before? or do they come with spacers from factory?

ok now i may have found the problem, at the bottom on the fuel pump module, pickup end after taking out the little red rubber washer and metal washer i have clean the unit and found 2 holes beside the circular pick up holes, these were fairly blocked so i dont know if they holes aren't suppose to be there or if they aren't allowed to be blocked, will put up a pick soon
