Default What would you upgrade your old XJ to?

As the tile says!
If you were to sell your XJ, what would you buy in the way of family capable 4wd?
Just putting some fealers out and get some opinions!

Would you go a grand / ZJ, WJ. Or something completely different!

Don't have much cash and I'm not in a hurry, so nothing to extravagant lol.

Has anyone had or heard of any major probs with these jeeps?
The 6cylinder 4ltr ones anyway.

And is the motor the same as the XJ 4ltr? Can they be swapped or Are there as many dramas as the tj to XJ visa versa?

I'm not looking at being slammed, just after opinions

I'd upgrade to a 2001 XJ although I suppose you could always import a 2005 XJ from China

Our XJ is our main driver. I have just picked up a WJ (4.0) for the missus, once I finish my Willys Ute IT will replace the XJ as my daily driver, and the CJ will replace it as my wheeler

Lose the diesel and upgrade to a 4.0L petrol XJ as parts will be less of a hassle to source, if you're worried about economy LPG is available (direct injection is best)

I wouldn't want to upgrade from my XJ I tend to keep vehicles for a long time (I had a Jackaroo for 10 years), only yesterday I was reading a post where at 80,000Kms a 4WD disabled 4WD low range because the vehicle's transmission was close to it's due service period OMG! I didn't like the sound of that what if you were in remote bushland?

Keeping the vehicle as "low tech" as possible is appealing for me as I do all the servicing work on my vehicles, I mean seriously who can afford the Dealership hourly rates?

BTW exactly what's wrong with your TD?
