Thinking you would be better off like the others say and get a nice little inverter welder. A few of them now can also be set up for scratch TIG with a few more bits in case you wanted to learn that later. MIG welds may look better but you may not get the penetration for the thicker 5-6mm. You can always get a MIG later if you want to weld up other things. I started welding again with a cheap 120A arc welder, did a few jobs thhen bought a Weldmaster 170 ($1300ish) ran it with gasless wire for a while before changing to gas). Ended up getting a 130A inverter arc welder as well which is a lot easier to start than the old one.
