Another hint: The fire burnt the bottom and one side out of the brake master cylinder rendering it useless and consequently absolutely no brakes (the fire also melted the handbrake cables to the underside of the floor) We phoned Jeep spare parts and were told three weeks for a new master cylinder and that was to the nearest dealer over 1000klms away and it would take a week or more after that to get it to us at Lyndhurst SA.
We built a new master cylinder out of an orange juice bottle and what was left of the burnt out master cylinder and a tube and a half of araldite and Selleys kneadit. After a few extra applications of Kneadit and purchasing 4 ltrs of brake fluid we ended up driving 6000klms with my masterpiece not using a single drop of fluid.

I have said it before and will say it again.
Do not rely of Jeep Assist or the likes when heading on any major adventure as it ain't worth anything.

Get yourself something like the RAC Premium for $130 a year which is a comprehensive recovery service if you run into probs.

Jeep assist is great for the city limits etc... But not so good when your 1000's of k's from home and towing a camper or something else.

Oh NO!, Way to old and smart for that, I am sure your just joking.

As I have said before, we love the little Jeep, it has gotten us to some amazing places around Australia in the last few years, but the experience has been soured by having to deal with Chrysler Jeep and its WA dealers. We will drive this little JK into the ground, after our planned crossing of the Simpson and Anne Beadell H/way in May this year we will be taking it on less and less challenging trips (we are getting older and more arthritic anyway) until it takes its final gasp somewhere and like us it will retire back to the farm. We will always have the LC200 for comfort and reliability.

So have they changed the interior in the new one?

Probably the only thing that doesn’t need changing, what about all the other things that break on regular basis.... Oh let’s not start me again.

Steve

Hey mate,

Are u in Perth?. Was that your red CRD you took to Rodgerbone to mod? If so i feel for you mate. You've had bad luck wih the thing off the bat. Myself on the other hand have had zero probs. Just a split turbo pipe which Jeep fixed under warranty. It must of been a lemon mate. Ive been out in 40 degree heat pushing the shit out of it with the aircon blaring full ball and the temp didn't budge...That being said, if i had experienced your issues i woulda moved on AGES ago..

PS: just received the recall letter in the mail aswell. Ive had a look and there doesnt seem to be any rubbing though. Im running a 2.5 inch lift and 33's on road..
