Default Insurance for over 2" of lift

Hi all
I know this has been covered in one form or another. I have been searching for an Insurance company to cover more than a 2" lift, or more than legal lift in QLD. I have found that most companaies will cover modifications providing they are legal in the state of registration, which means anything above a 17mm lift in QLD is not covered. I have been speaking to TCIS Insurance brokers (backed by ALLIANZ) who state they will cover almost all options including up to a 4" lift, CRD chips etc and will consider suspension brackets that return geometry back to stock like.
I am waiting on a written quote, and for these items to be put in writing and then we will see how we go.
Many 4wd clubs use TCIS, so if you are concerned about insurance coverage, try TCIS.

I used to use these guys, they will insure any modification as long as the car is registered/registerable. TCIS was way too expensive. I'm not sure if anyone in my 4X4 club uses TCIS any more.. over 150 active members

Have a chat to Affinity also.
They are based in Melbourne, but I think they cover other states.

Default Lift in QLD

Most states have a 50mm rule, and then allow for engineering if you go over 50mm.
QLD have some 30% - which i think reads - you can lower or raise your veicle by 30% of the bump or rebound distance. And this distance is measured when the vehicle is at rest, and is the distance between the two bump stops, which on a CRD is about 55mm, maybe a little more on the petrol.

There are several threads about this, and everybody has an opinion on what the 30% rule means -what it actually measures etc, so that is my interpretation.

The chance of being pulled over for a 2 to 3' lift is pretty small, but the chance of your insurance company declining your insurance claim at an accident is much higher, if they believe you have exeeded the max lift height allowed in that state.

Was in accident 2 weeks ago, got 3'' lift and ALLIANZ approved all repairs no problem (6k of repairs), but most damage was to panels and front bumper. Nothing mechanical, so not sure what they would say if I needed to fix something more serious.

i use TCIS and they have been great. I actually found them to be one of the most competitive on the market. I pay $680 a year with mods thru them on a JKU rubi
