Well I don't have those sized tyres but I re-geared mine to 3.73:1 to run 30" tyres, sounds like nothing but it is noticable and I reckon worth the effort (yes I am fussy) so keeping that in mind try and aim to keep the ratio the same as it was for the 225/75/15's on 3.55:1, that will keep everything happy.....
I run 4.56 and 35's, I think this is a good compromise between gearing and ring and pinion strength. This gives it gearing a little deeper than stock which helps cope with the extra weight of the tyre. I'm glad I didn't go any deeper, when I had the 4.56 on 32's I thought it sucked and I had to drive the XJ down hill on the freeway, basically it wouldn't coast and without cruise it got painful on the trip to Jambo and back. With the 35's the 4.56 in the D44 and D30 is great.
