Default You Get What You Pay For

Still hunting an XJ and this seems too cheap.

What problems/questions would i be asking owner before even considering looking at it?

Diff ratios?
Brake line extensions?
SYE?
Where the hell does he carry his spare!

Probably bigger than what i really need but tempting none the less.

Seems almost too good to be true and I would reckon the last picture tells the story. Goes against what has been said in the advert "It has never been Serious 4WD only basic tracks here and there. Only due to my inexperience."

Looking at the picture taken of the underside; it seems (to me at least) to be a bit more dirty/ rusty than it should be for something that has, allegedly, not done any "serious" off roading.

I would certainly take it all with a pinch of salt and have the car properly inspected if you're serious about buying it.

Since he's still running stock flares and the stock front bumper with 33's I'd say he hasn't used the disconnects and probably hasn't done much offroad with it. Those tyres will rub bad when disconnected. He may not even know what a SYE is etc, just ask fof some more pics or go see it. Sounds like a pretty good buy if it doesn't vibe etc.

Cheers
Steve

I'm selling my 1998 XJ, which is on LPG, has an extra set of rims with 31" Kuhmo muds, VGC, just checking out the rear axle bearing (will replace axle if necessary). I'm west of Melb too pm me if you want to have a look.

Moorey, The long arm kit will need an engineers cerificate which means no roady without it, not to mention the tyres beyond the flares. That will be why there is no roady with it. Only half done to run the 33's really. Just my 2 bob.

Also noticed in the photos that the passenger side disco is installed on the wrong side of the diff bracket. who knows what else isn't installed incorrectly!

Yeah, thought it was more trouble than what it's worth. 33s too big for my needs really, but it's the n=n+1 theory, where n is the size you want.

Will send you PM PK.
