In answer to the question of whether you need any special tools, all you should need is a clutch aligning tool. These are available from any auto shop pretty cheap and come with a variety of sizes to suit most clutches.
Doesn't seem to be many dual mass flywheels failing. If they do not fail then there is no need to replace them with a solid item when it will be detrimental to the driving experience of the vehicle? I guess a HD clutch may put more stress on the flywheel though.
