I don't really agree with that comment, i find my car is fine driving around town, fantastic off road and is quite capable for carting around my camping gear in it. The room might not be the biggest in the boot but i got a Congo cage for mine with a large basket and i can fit everything up there that i can't get into the boot.

cant say i agree either but i know where you are coming from though.
I have been away for a few weeks in JK towing with 2 kids and wifey and its more than suitable and capable.
Man just look at Hinty's rig to show it can be done and done well

That said there are others more inclined to lend itself to touring than the JK

The Jeep isn't that bad as a tourer towing a trailer, a thumper and a 40L engel in the back still leaves room for a few other bits as well.
Yeah we thought it would suit us after the kids are grown. And the turning circle turns circles around any Toyota that's for sure!

It's just that the km range isn't great and Hubby has always been a diesel kind of bloke, we gave it a good go but he's not a fan of carrying petrol in Jerry cans particularly in the warmer climates. (we carried about 80L extra).

If only the diesel Jeep models had as much power as the Toyota V8's hey!

Actually, considering you are comparing a 4cyl to an 8cyl there are actually pretty comparable in power and torque and the Grand V6 diesel is only just shy of it at 177Kw 560Nm compared to 195 Kw 650Nm...The $50-60 000 you save buying the JK over the 200 V8 could do any any engine/diff conversion you like!! Mmmm, VM Motori V6 diesel with RockJock Dana 60s in a JK with $40 000 cash left over!!!!

But seriously....cant believe how many took Yoms hook...nice fishing man!

Matt.

the grand cherokee diesel is a cracker with more than ample torque and power

Ahhh yes certainly would be.

I must say I think the Wrangler is pretty close the most Landcruiser like fourby you can get. With the style and look etc.
