Got it sorted!

Jeep Nut, It's completely standard.

I went back to Bridgestone this morning and he said the reason the inside of the tyres were scuffing was the toe was 3 degrees out (tyres have done 45k so far, still have about 40k worth of tread left, tyres aren't bad I got on top of it early. I must have put it out while driving over rocks a while ago). So he pulled that in to within specs. According to him, it has never been in a prang because camber was pretty much spot on the required specs (thank goodness).

While he had it up on the lift he allowed me under we had another look at everything, all the bushes, knuckles are perfect, To centre the wheel he's adjusted the bar that connects the steering box to the passenger side wheel so that the wheel holds straight, we did about 3 adjustments until i was happy with the steering wheels alignment. Moved the rear tyres to the front and she now drives straight and true. Not sure if adjusting that bar is cheating? But it worked.

It's a good feeling when you drive away and there's no bloody drag on the steering, glad you got it sorted.

Na, not cheating, thats why its adjustable!

The tie rod (the single rod that runs from drivers to passengers wheel) is the adjustment for toe in / toe out. As you adjust this, imagine that your steering wheel is straight ahead and you go from 3mm toe out to 3mm toe in. Both wheels have turned in 3mm, however the passenger side has also pushed that bar you described (draglink) across with it, causing the steering wheel to turn to the right. Shortening this rod will (in this example) return the steering wheel to straight.

Ah, thanks Seacomms. That makes sense, Cheers for that.

So the tie rod was shortened by 3mm, which would have moved the drag link 3mm turning the wheel right. To fix that he's shortened the drag link by 3mm to bring it straight again.

The adjustment is critical because it gets the steering box centred, the steering wheel is just a side effect but as long as it was right to start with is a good indicator.
BTW its true , chrysler Jeeps are 10mm shorter on LHS. Ive measured personally A JK ,TJ, ZJ & WJ.This is why they tend to wear LH front tyres unevenly no matter what you do.

I know this has been discussed before but exactly what 2 points are you measuring from?

Good question. I can not see a difference. The RHD is sold in many countries and I doubt that this is true...
I also had the pulling to the left and had Jeep install a caster correction ball joint. This had limited success, so after a year or two I removed it (and all the other as well) Installed a RTC damper and that fixed the problem. Runs quite true now.
