Hi briteway,
To me, the plastics in the GC feel harder and cheaper, many of the seals and trims feel flimsier and again, cheaper, the panel gaps aren't as tight and the general fit and finish just doesn't feel to be as high a standard as what I'm used to. But don't take this as an attack on the GC, as I indicated in my previous post, I think the GC is an extremely competitive vehicle and there will always be trade offs in whatever vehicle you purchase.
I accept that this is simply my humble opinion, but I don't believe it's unfounded. Still, with those considerations, I'm seriously thinking about ordering one, though I may wait until the upgrade.

After working for Toll Autologistics at both Ford and Toyota I can say I would never buy a Toyota. You are simply paying for a name that the quality isn't there any more. I remember a few years ago, (3 to be precise), whe Toyota was having a 35%failure rate in their engine castings.
Did Toyota ever get around to fixing that problem with the accelerators that were killing people? What was it, 1.5million cars recalled to fix/sort the problem out. FJ Cruisers, (re-badged Prado in reality), with the side impact airbags going off on the wrong side in a side on collision. I've never seen a factory fauly in a Jeep that has killed people. Great build quality and reliability that.....
If anyone here really thinks that Toyota are so great buy shares in the company. I'm not biased, my first car was a VK Calais, followed by 5 varying model Fairmonts and an LTD before my WG V8 JGC. Is my Jeep perfect? Hell no, but I'll put it up against any Toyota/Nissan/Mitsubishi for its age and not be embarrassed in any way.

Fair enough. I haven't looked at one of the new ones from up close nor have driven one yet so I can't say anything. In regards to the previous models, the WH's, yes, they have hard plastics and the feel isn't right especially that I "upgraded" from the WG's. The WG's on the other hand had the perfect interior feel and at the time, when I compared it to the then new Patrols, Prados and LC's, they came nowhere close.
On the new WK's (or WK2's), I can't comment as stated but I would've thought that they improved on that in comparison to the WH's. Mind you, I have never had a rattle of anything in the interior of my WG or WH (even after all the offroading they've done) and my brother with his brand new Patrol got a rattle after a week and he's annoyed as hell. I had one on my then new Toyo (prior to the WG) that annoyed the hell out of me. The Prados doors just felt thin and flimsy and the exterior sound was unbearable (it was as if I had the window open). When I stepped into the GC, it was like soundproof.

Despite my GC waiting for an engine replacement I can't wait to pick it up and drive it again as I love driving it. None of that 'boring-as-bat-shit' the rest of the pack is coping with. True 4x4 with great looks. The GC goes where X5, ML and Q7 stop. There is an XC90 available at GC prices but despite capable off road qualities no low range. The only better option is the Discovery or Range Sports, but they are too pricey. GC it is all the way. Go for the CRD as it's a better choice over the Pentastar (the one being replaced in my current GC, next one will be a CRD).

Can't stand those AWD's. What about the X6? Looks like a swollen 328.
Jeep GC is the way to go. It's got the looks and low range (but no recovery points on the '12 models) .

I heard that the 200 Cruisers are dropping like flies out around Alice. The guy who does the recovery for government fleet vehicles has never had to tow so many Toyotas. It's just what I have heard. Maybe its to be expected as they have gone with all the modern tech rather than the under powered donks they used to run.
