Default WK2 toolkit

Hey,

Looking to put together a basic small tool roll to jam in around the spare of the new Jeep just in case I need to do any basic repairs on the beach and was wondering what people thought of my basic kit. My current thoughts are:

- Multi-bit Stanley Screwdriver
- Cresent rapid wrench (adjustible socket ratchet)
- 8 or 10" shifting spanner
- A decent quality pair of combination pliers
- 10mm open ended ring spanner (I hear I need this for the battery terminals)
- smallish ball pein hammer
- spark plug wrench (12mm I think)
- 2-3m of light guage gal wire
- small roll of duct tape
- zip ties

Any essentials I'm missing?

Jasman.

Good plan and it helps to have a few tools to lay your hands on if it's simple.

Some additions...

Jeep Assist Card?
Can of wd40?

Sounds ok if fixing small basic trim rattles and loose connections are all you are attempting. Anything more serious and you'll probably need a tow strap anyway.

Modern electronics are beyond the scope of basic toolkits nowadays.

As SMBCJ suggested, a can of WD40.

Also if you're handy with electrics then a basic multimeter and/or circuit tester. Even though there's lots of electronics, most problems will be connections rather than an electronic component. So you need to know how to trace a wiring/connection fault. Also a small file, or sand paper for cleaning up any carboned or corroded connections.

Spare fuses

I'd also consider a deep socket wrench set, as well as the rapid wrench. Though we might be getting beyond a basic set now.

Whatever you do though, make sure they are good quality. It's PITA when your tools fail on you at the worst possible time.
