Yes, I agree but not while the vehicle is in warranty...

I don't understand all this talk on getting it serviced at the dealership to keep under warranty as you can get it serviced at any registered business with absolutely no affect on your warranty. You do not have to get it services at a dealer to keep your 3 year warranty

I asked him to tighten my handbrake as it sometimes doesnt hold up too well (takes a few varieties of lift to hold it on a hill) but he called me saying that it wasn't an easy job and he'd have to go into the dash or something.
Does this sound right?
Think you need a different mechanic as he obviously has no idea. Adjusting handbrake is a simple task but if he thinks you go through the dash then just smile and wave and slowly back away

I was replying to XJDAVID who was suggesting you do the service yourself. Also, not sure whether the local mechanic has the necessary scan tools etc. But I fully understand that it will not void your warranty to take the vehicle to the local mechanic.

Fair enough. You would be surprised by the amount of people who are sucked in by dealerships of all models that you must have it there to keep up your warranty even if they don't say it so directly
